Arwind Santos wants no let-up against Talk 'N Text after bitter lessons from the past

ARWIND Santos cautions San Miguel not to let up against Talk `N Text even with an already imposing 3-0 lead in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series.

Lessons of the past had made him not to be complacent against a team as talented as the Tropang Texters.

“Mahirap magsalita kasi eh, pero di pa rin namin makalimutan `yung before kasi tatlo din ang panalo namin tapos nalaglag din kami,” he recalled about the 2011 edition of the Philippine Cup when the Beermen (then carrying the Petron name) failed to take care of a 3-1 semifinals series lead and allowed the Tropang Texters to recover from the depths of elimination and beat them in seven games.

“Maraming lessons pero kailangan matutunan namin yun,” he added.

The Beermen will try to bring out the broom against the Tropang Texters as the two rival teams are set to tangle in Friday’s Game Four at the Mall of Asia Arena.

San Miguel didn’t take a break on Christmas and opted to practice in the hope of finishing off Talk `N Text.

A win by San Miguel would have the franchise advancing to the finals of the All-Filipino Cup.

But the 6-foot-4 Santos likes the team’s chances this time, believing the Beermen have better chemistry as he debunks rumors they are a dysfunctional team from within.

“Maganda rin naman ang samahan namin in the past. Wala naman akong nakitang pangit makisama. Saka lahat willing at open. Pero ngayon kasi mas maraming makulit kaya lalo kaming nagje-jell,” he said with a smile.
