Arwind Santos scents title: 'Mahirap talunin talaga pag lahat kami maganda nilalaro'

IF San Miguel Beer can win with just one of them posting his usual numbers, what more if June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos play big at the same time in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals against Alaska?

That question was answered in Game Four, which the Beermen won, 93-88, after Fajardo and Santos, past and present league MVPs, both left a huge imprint in leading the squad to a 3-2 lead and on the verge of winning the series.

Fajardo and Santos produced almost identical numbers with the former tallying a series-high 19 points, 13 boards, and five blocks in 38 minutes and Santos scattering 19 points, nine rebounds, five blocks, and four assists in 37 minutes.

“Malaking bagay 'yun,” Santos said. “Pero hindi lang naman kaming dalawa eh; nag-step rin yung iba.”

True enough, the tandem drew plenty of contribution from the rest of the squad, with Marcio Lassiter adding 16 points built around three three-pointers and David Semerad, Doug Kramer, Ronald Tubid, and Alex Cabagnot chipping in at least seven points each.

If the scenario continues, Santos believes Game Six is for the Beermen’s to lose.

“Mahirap talunin talaga pag lahat kami maganda nilalaro.”

Santos stressed the importance of finishing the series off in Game Six and avoiding a do-or-die game.

“Syempre napaka-importante nun kasi pag nag 3-3 medyo … hindi mo masabi kung anong mangyari. Iba pa rin yung may bala kahit papano.”

“Kailangan lang talaga namin panghawakan at pangalagaan at huwag kalimutan yung mga mistake na nagawa namin,” he added.
