IT was a mere campus tour game, but that doesn’t mean players can get away with cheap shots.

Star Hotshots’ Allein Maliksi and Prince Caperal of Phoenix were both fined by the PBA Commissioner’s Office following their involvement in an altercation that marred the tune-up match between the two teams three weeks ago at the CEU gym in Manila.

Maliksi was slapped with a P20,000 fine for the flagrant foul 2 infraction he committed against the Fuel Masters’ Asian import Lee Gwan Hee.

Caperal meanwhile, was penalized for P25,000 for entering the court and involved himself in the scuffle that followed after Maliksi’s hard foul on Lee.

The fines were meted last June 30 as per official transactions registered under the Commissioner’s Office.

The Fuel Masters beat the Hotshots, 99-87, behind a huge 25-2 tear in the fourth quarter.

Both teams played without an import back then.

Curiously, Star and Phoenix will see action right on opening day of the PBA Governors Cup on Friday against separate opponents. The Hotshots take on the Mahindra Enforcers in the 7 p.m. main game at the Araneta Coliseum, while the Fuel Masters battle the Meralco Bolts in the curtain raiser at 5 p.m.
