PBA player Calvin Abueva is crying foul over a bogus Instagram account created under his name, which is feeding wrong information about him and has gone as far as announce a fans' day for the Alaska star.

The hard-charging former PBA Rookie of the Year awardee said the poser, who carries the handle abuevacalvin8, has been maliciously posting pictures of him and his family to attract followers, which has surpassed the 3,000 mark in so short a time.

Mamaya kung ano-ano pang kalokohan ang gawin,” said the pride of Angeles City.

What drove Abueva to speak out and take action was a post from the fake account announcing that the Alaska forward would be holding a fans' day on Sunday at the Angeles University Foundation gym.

“Wala po akong pinapatawag na fans' day. Hindi po totoo yun,” Abueva said.

Even more alarming, his fellow PBA cager Ronnie Matias (whose Instagram handle is @rjedsaitam) has fallen victim to the poser who the San Mig forward had chatted with a few times in the picture-sharing social media site.

Nakakatakot ang post eh,” she added.

When reached by Spin.ph, Matias admitted he nearly fell victim to the poser who asked for a jersey.

“Napeke nga ako dun. Muntik na kong naniniwala,” said Matias.

Mrs. Abueva said the holder of the fake account apparently knows what he is doing as he has intentionally blocked them and other people close to Calvin so his operations will be hard to monitor.

“Magaling siya. Mautak. Naka-block lahat, pati ikaw para hindi mo makita kahit i-search mo siya maghapon,” she said.

Abueva said he is now seeking the help of authorities to put a stop to the bogus account.

Iba na yun,” said Abueva.

Abueva’s adviser, Atty Charlie Chua, told Spin.ph that the player's manager, Pampanga vice governor Dennis Pineda, has already ordered the filing of complaint against the owner of the fake account to the NBI.
