NEW Star import Joel Wright is aware of the big shoes he has to fill in as replacement for two-time PBA Best Import Marqus Blakely.
He’s not about to pressure himself though, saying he won't be trying to outdo the veteran import who hasn’t really got going in the four games he played so far in the Governors Cup.
“No pressure on my part. That’s what I do. I play the whole time of my life,” said Wright, who was at ringside of the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday to watch the PBA All-Star game.
Wright arrived in the country Saturday and already practice with the Hotshots the following day.
He’s yet to totally embrace the system of the Hotshots, but hopes to settle down and learn more about the team as the days go by.
The NBA D-League veteran describes Star coach Jason Webb a ‘very nice guy.’
“I love the team because they showed me some love right away,” said Wright as he recalls his initial encounter with the Hotshots.
“I hope to know more of my teammates. I know they got my back and I hope to get a blast out here,” said the import, who’s in his first tour of duty in the country.
Wright is set for his Star debut against NLEX this coming Friday.
