ANTIPOLO – New shoes, different result for Terrence Romeo.
The TNT KaTropa star and Peak endorser unveiled a new white colorway of his TR7 1.0, but couldn’t save the Texters from suffering their first loss in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup- a 110-100 decision at the hands of Alaska on Sunday night.
Romeo, wearing taped-up white Kyrie 3s in the first few games of the conference, appeared comfortable with his new, squeaky-clean Peak shoes as he contributed 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting, eight assists, four rebounds, and one block, against two turnovers in almost 31 minutes as a starter.
But the three-time scoring champion continued to adjust to coach Nash Racela’s system as evidenced by some plays where he turned to isolation instead of running the offense.
“Yeah, again, ano eh. Learning process,” Racela said. “Ano 'yung sabi ni ano... who was that coach? 'Rome wasn't built in a day.' May nabasa ako eh. Kinowt niya recently. Nabasa ko, a coach said that, because they're in the process of building their team.”
“So it's the same, it's the same with us,” he added. “You don't expect everybody to get their best right away. It takes time. Sixers nga eh, 'di ba? Process daw.”
Aces coach Alex Compton heaved a sigh of relief after Romeo and the rest of the TNT guards failed to convert their usual shots.
“We had some very fortunate misses on some shots that they usually shoot a high-percentage on, they didn't go in, so that was fortunate for us,” the American said.
