BLACKWATER coach Nash Racela is seeing progress with Bossing rookies Joshua Torralba, Andre Paras, and Rey Mark Acuno in the build-up for the coming season.

Racela said Torralba, Paras, and Acuno are slowly learning the system of the Bossing as well as the PBA style of play during the resumption of full practices and scrimmages in Batangas.

“Nakakasabay physically,” Racela said. “The three of them are somehow, ready na rin. It’s more of adjustment to the PBA style of play. Again, learning of the system kasi iba rin ‘yung amateur [game], iba ‘yung PBA, iba ‘yung college. Those things take time para matutunan. At least nagiging comfortable sila.”

Racela said Torralba, Paras, and Acuno are learning from the veterans in terms of the style of play in the PBA.

Torralba, the Bossing’s second-round pick, is expected to make an impact on offense for Blackwater following his stint with Makati in the MPBL.

“Ang sure lang ako ngayon is he is very comfortable with the ball,” said Racela of Torralba. “He could also be a threat sa amin offensively. Ang maganda nga kasi, he is matched up with sila Ron Dennison. Kumbaga nae-expose agad sa depensahan sa PBA. That’s really good for him sa development niya.”

For their part, Paras and Acuno are also getting accustomed to the physical style of play in the PBA, having practiced with the likes of KG Canaleta, David Semerad, and Kelly Nabong, one of the new signees of the Bossing for the coming season.

“In our practices, exposed agad sila sa physical and hustle players. Maganda rin for him na this early, ‘yun ang nakakasabay niya. Nakakatuwa ‘yung practices namin are getting physical with the new guys,” Racela said.

Racela, however, said Blackwater treats practices with a little caution since the opening of the PBA season remains uncertain.

“Maingat lang kami kasi too early pa ‘yung training namin,” said Racela.
