TNT coach Nash Racela refused to blame fatigue for his team’s sluggish showing in their 121-94 loss to Ginebra in their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series opener on Monday night.

Coming off a 118-114 win over Rain or Shine in the rubber match of their quarterfinal matchup last Friday, the Texters took the court again just three nights later and suffered a beating at the hands of the Gin Kings in Game One of Final Four.

The Gin Kings, on the other hand, had four days of rest as they last saw action last Wednesday when the twice-to-beat team dispatched San Miguel Beer in just one game, 104-84.

Racela, though, insisted his team is hardly tired.

“No. I don’t know. Could be, (but) we shouldn’t be entertaining those thoughts at this point,” Racela said. “That’s how I always felt about the fatigue factor.”

But more days of rest come with more days of preparation – and that’s what Ginebra had.

“The difference is their last game was on Wednesday, our last game was Friday, so it was really hard to prepare for this game,” Racela said. “We had little window to rest and I think we had two practices before the game. I think that was crucial.”

Still, Racela didn’t take anything away from the Gin Kings, who held the Texters to just 34-of-85 shooting for 40 percent and forced them to commit 22 turnovers to lead by as many as 34 points.

“We were outplayed, we were outcoached, we were outhustled,” Racela said after his team scored a 29-point win over Ginebra in their last game in the eliminations. “Reversal naman today.”

And he’s hoping that his Texters can simply regain their bearings in Game Two on Wednesday night in Batangas.

“If you’re not better come Wednesday, we’ll lose two straight,” Racela said.
