STANLEY Pringle and Kelly Nabong hit the crucial baskets as GlobalPort hammered out an 83-80 win over Magnolia in a PBA preseason game at the Claret School Gym in Quezon City on Thursday.
Nabong, who recently signed with the Batang Pier after being relegated by Meralco to the unrestricted free agent list, unloaded a surprise three-pointer with 1:44 remaining to break the deadlock, 80-77.
GlobalPort then made a defensive stop in the ensuing play that led to a Pringle basket and gave GlobalPort the five-point buffer it needed in the endgame.
Pringle stood at the forefront of the team's attack in the absence of the injured Terrence Romeo, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.
Ryan Araña and Kelly Nabong added 16 and 14 markers, respectively.
"Yun one month namin na nagte-training naging positive yung result. Kulang kulang kami, pero sila rin naman. Pero ang point dun meron kang nakuhang positive," said GlobalPort Pido Jarencio.
Aldrech Ramos drilled in a triple with 12.1 ticks to go before Pringle made one from the foul line, 83-80.
The Hotshots could have sent the game into overtime but Ramos' three-point attempt was short as time expired.
Ramos paced Magnolia with 15 points on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown, while Ian Sangalang had 14 markers.
