CJ ISIT hopes the Mythical Five selection in the Draft Combine will boost his stock in the PBA Rookie Draft on Sunday at Robinsons Place Manila.
The 27-year-old Isit was named one of the five top players of the Draft Combine, joining MVP JP Calvo, Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, and Michael Calisaan.
The former Mapua standout hopes the award will enhance his chances of getting selected in the PBA draft.
“Definitely feels good (Mythical Five) but winning the whole thing was much better,” said Isit. “I’m a winner and I like to share the victory with my teammates. They definitely helped me put me in the position to excel. We did a great job tonight.”
The 5-foot-8 Isit said the accomplishment is big for him considering that he last played for Mapua two seasons ago. He also missed last year’s draft after getting injured right before the Draft Combine.
Isit is currently playing for the San Juan Knights in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
“I was supposed to apply last year but I got injured right before the Combine. It definitely hurt watching that. I’m happy to be part of this process and the whole Combine this year. I just tried to enjoy myself,” said Isit.
“Hopefully, this has a big impact. I’m pretty much MIA (missing in action) the past few years because I graduated from Mapua. Hopefully, it does me some good. But to be honest, I’m not really expecting anything on Sunday. I know God is with me and whatever happens, God’s plan is always the best,” said Isit.
And his promise to the team that selects him?
“I’m definitely bringing my attitude. I’m a winner. I play with my heart. I come to play whether it’s practice, tune-up, games, I’m always ready to go. I’m definitely self-motivated, self-disciplined. I feel that I can be an asset on and off the court,” Isit said.
