TNT Katropa stakes its unbeaten slate in the PBA Governors Cup Saturday when it parades new import Mychal Ammons against Blackwater at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The league-leading Texters face the Elite (1-3) at 3 p.m., hoping to extend their winning streak despite hiring Ammons to replace Mario Little.
The Texters were unbeaten in their first four outings with Little around.
But coach Jong Uichico said the team needed the presence of a ‘big’ if the Texters were to seriously contend for the title in the season-ending conference.
“Nothing against the performance of Mario (Little),” he said on the eve of the match. “Let’s see what he (Ammons) can give to the team.”
Ammons last played in the Mexican league and was undrafted in the NBA (2014).
The second game will have Rain or Shine (2-2) taking on Alaska (1-3) as both teams try to bounce back from their respective losses the last time.
