PERHAPS he was really born to help others.
For in the most wonderful time of the year, Manny V. Pangilinan, well-known businessman, sportsman, and the No. 1 backer of the national basketball team, has only one simple wish in mind.
“If I made one or more than one person happy, that gives me a lot of comfort and happiness. Yun lang. Yun lang ang wish ko,” said the man who is fondly called "MVP".
They Said It!
“Basta every year, mag-improve ka, and you improve the lives of the people year on year, make more people happy, ok na 'yun. I know that sounds idealistic, but that's really me." - Manny Pangilinan
The thought that he has everything in life may discourage others from giving him material gifts, but Pangilinan said every gift that comes his way will be truly appreciated.
“Nothing material that I expect to get from anyone,” said the president of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and owner of the Talk `N Text and Meralco ballclubs in the PBA.
“But of course if I receive anything from friends, relatives, and family I appreciate it especially the thought of getting something from Christmas.”
For someone considered as a real-life Santa Claus, Pangilinan hopes to continue serving as a blessing to all the people around him.
“Sabi nga nila it's better to improve from year to year. We can't strive for perfection naman, siguro you can never achieve perfection naman, 'di ba?” he said.
“Basta every year, mag-improve ka, and you improve the lives of the people year on year, make more people happy, ok na 'yun. I know that sounds idealistic, but that's really me.”
