MANNY V. Pangilinan expects nothing less than a PBA championship upon the arrival of flamboyant scorer Terrence Romeo to his flagship squad, TNT KaTropa.
The two met for the first time since the trade during the contract signing between Chooks-to-Go and PayMaya in Makati City on Thursday.
Romeo, a Chooks ambassador, was tagged along by Bounty owner Ronald Mascarinas to personally meet his new boss.
"Certainly, he is a welcome addition. Talagang lalakas yung team with Terrence here," said Pangilinan who now has a deadly backcourt combination of Romeo and Jayson Castro at TNT.
"I think we have a very formidable backcourt. So we're looking forward to a championship 'di ba Terrence?" he added.
A three-time PBA scoring champion, Romeo understands the pressure that comes with the move and he vows to live up to the team's lofty expectations.
“Kailangan ko lang pagbutihan at kailangan ko gawin yung best ko to reach yung expectation nila boss," said the five-year pro.
"Pag mag tulong-tulong kami, matutupad namin yun."
Furthermore, Pangilinan isn't worried at all about the chemistry of the guard-heavy KaTropa considering that most of their key players played together under head coach Nash Racela during their collegiate days with FEU.
In fact, it's something that Pangilinan sees as an advantage moving forward.
"Nagka-reunion yung mga FEU boys from coach Nash and Terrence down to RR Garcia and Roger Pogoy. So, it's familiar grounds for them."
