MANNY V. Pangilinan is giving Gilas Pilipinas cagers Jayson Castro, Jimmy Alapag, Ranidel De Ocampo, and Larry Fonacier a much-needed break before they returned to the Talk ’N Text fold in the PBA.
The PBA Governors Cup will open on Wednesday with the Tropang Texters starting their campaign on Friday against Barako Bull.
But the PLDT-Smart honcho said that he will be giving his four Tropang Texters cagers a well-deserved one-month break before returning to their mother team in the pro league.
“At least sa Talk ’N Text, pahinga muna namin sila ng isang buwan,” said Pangilinan in a brief chat with reporters after the game.
Pangilinan praised Gilas Pilipinas for the effort despite bowing to Iran in the final match. The Philippines will return to the world stage after qualifying in the 2014 Fiba World Cup with a semifinal victory over Korea last Saturday.
“Ayos lang. I think Gilas tried their best so ganoon talaga. But at least, we are going to Spain. We should prepare for that,” said Pangilinan.
