MUSCLE tightness kept Vic Manuel from seeing action for San Miguel in Game 1 of its PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals series against Converge.
The veteran big man was in street clothes and watched from the sidelines as the defending champion gave Converge coach Aldin Ayo a rude reception in his first playoffs appearance in the form of a 114-96 rout of the FiberXers Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena.
“May muscle tightness siya,” said San Miguel physical therapist Edward Bacason of the 35-year-old forward.
Manuel acquired the injury in the Beermen’s practices as they gear up for the quarterfinals. But it’s something that won’t hold back Manuel for a long time, Bacason assured.
“Actually puwede naman siyang maglaro for Game 1, pero hindi na muna namin pinilit. Ni-rest na lang muna siya,” said Bacason.
Hopefully, the ‘Muscle Man’ will finally be able to play in Game 2 on Saturday when the Beermen try to finish off the FiberXers and clinch a berth in the semifinals.
“Baka Game 2 makalaro na siya,” said the San Miguel PT.
Manuel averaged 11.25 points and 3.25 rebounds in 12 games in the eliminations.
