TWO former Magnolia players are seeking spots in Blackwater’s roster for Season 50 of the PBA.
Jed Mendoza and David Murrell are suiting up for the Bossing in the 2025 Kadayawan Invitational basketball tournament in Davao as part of their tryouts in the hope of cracking the team lineup for the coming season.

Aside from the two, also trying out with Blackwater are Wendel Comboy and Daniel Bayla.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to look at a few free agents who are trying out,” said Blackwater coach Jeff Cariaso.
Mendoza played for three seasons with the Hotshots after being elevated from their 3x3 team, but was let go by the team by the end of Season 49.
Murrell also suited up for Magnolia after being acquired from Converge along with Abu Tratter for the duo of Adrian Wong and a first-round pick, but never got the opportunity to play for the Hotshots, who later put him in the unrestricted free agent list.
The former slam dunk champion last played for Barangay Ginebra in the Season 48 Philippine Cup.
Incidentally, the 6-foot-4 Fil-Am played for Cariaso during their time together at Converge.
Comboy also had a short stint with the Blackwater franchise where he previously saw action as part of its 3x3 team.
The Bossing kick off their campaign in the Kadayawan festivities against the Phoenix Fuel Masters at the University of Southeastern Philippines.
