METRO Pacific Tollways Corp. stamped its class anew in the MVP Olympics after winning the men’s basketball championship for the fourth straight time recently.
NLEX team governor Ronald Dulatre proved to be the man of the hour for MPTC after scoring the game-winner for the defending champion against PLDT, 74-73, in the thrilling finale held at the Meralco gym.
The title showdown was a rematch of last year’s finals between the two teams, which MPTC won to complete a three-peat.
Veteran coach Adonis Tierra, the long-time NLEX deputy, called the shots for MPTC, which also featured the likes of former PBA MVP Asi Taulava, Emman Monfort, Dominic Fajardo, and Jake Pascual.

Other members of the champion unit were Earnest Reyes, Edgar Charcos, Joem Ellamil, Bry Solis, Chris De Jesus, Ervin ‘Wemby’ Mercado, Riki Bernabe, Elvin Pascual, Allan Gregorio, and executives Atty. JD Garcia, Gibson Repomanta, and Ben Bagono.
Acting as deputies for Tierra were Philip Paniamogan, Jay Serrano, and Glen Campos.
MPTC achieved the feat in the presence of company President and CEO Gilbert Sta. Maria, Chief Financial Officer Marissa V. Conde, and NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Renon.
MPTC and NLEX emerged as top team in their respective groups going to the crossover semis.
In the semis, MPTC dispatched Mediaquest, and PLDT drubbed Meralco to arrange the title duel.
