EXPECT other teams to likewise play with their respective retro jerseys for the coming Season 50 of the Philippine Basketball Association.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league is giving other teams the chance to wear their old designed jerseys next season like the ones San Miguel and Meralco did during the PBA’s 50th anniversary games last April 9.
Marcial disclosed SMC management already asked permission if it can use the same retro-designed uniforms the Beermen wore during their 110-98 victory over the Bolts at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum last Wednesday.

“Nagtanong na sila kung puwede raw ulit nilang gamiting yung same retro jersey. Sabi ko oo naman especially since 50th anniversary ng PBA,” said the commissioner.
The Beermen patterned the jersey design to their 1982 season campaign.
The Bolts on the other hand, showed up with their 1972-inspired uniform from their playing days in the defunct Manila Industrial Commercial Athletic Association.
Marcial said San Miguel can also use other previous jersey layouts it had in its rich 50-year stint in Asia’s pioneering pro league.

“OK din yun kung ano gusto nilang retro design ng jerseys nila,” added the commissioner.
Potential teams that can also have their own retro jerseys include Barangay Ginebra, Magnolia, TNT, and Rain or Shine.
Just last year, the Elasto Painters played Converge in the Philippine Cup wearing their old blue and red colored, dragon-designed outfit in a 110-90 win.
