MO Tautuaa was one of the candidates for the Best Player of the Conference in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Tautuaa was one of the four contenders for the conference award along with teammate Sean Anthony but he and Anthony lost to June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel, who captured his sixth in his career.
While happy to just have become one of the candidates, Tautuaa said he has other goals in mind, and one of which is to lead NorthPort to a coveted title.
“It’s cool to say that I was in the running but we have bigger goals,” the 30-year-old Tautuaa said. “We are going to continue to work. If we get it, we get it. If not, at least we are playing hard.”
The top pick in the 2015 PBA draft said the Batang Pier believes they have what it takes to contend in the Commissioner’s Cup.
“We all worked hard,” Tautuaa said. “I believe if you put in the work, you should get results. Basketball is true to who works hard. You put in the work, it should come back.”
Tautuaa also likes what their import Prince Ibeh can bring to the squad as well as their team-up post in going up against the top bigs in the league. The 6-foot-10 Ibeh played for the Long Island Nets in the NBA G-League last year.
“That man is tall. He works hard. Me and him work with each other in practice. He helps me because he is tall and long. I’ve got to look to get my shots off. He is working with me. They know I’m still trying to feel things out and learn things. It’s a process for both of us,” said Tautuaa.
