THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) may have a thousand reasons why it had no scheduled double-header on Sunday, but it is still inexcusable.
For those who were born in the era of this league that has become a Philippine institution when it comes to sports, not being able to watch a PBA twinbill during a season on a Sunday felt weird, even unthinkable.
Despite all the changes the league has undertaken over the years - much of which is not exactly for the better, there are still millions of us Filipinos who love the PBA with a passion.
Many of us still look forward to watching the PBA games even in its 'watered down' version, all because it has become part of the 'way of life' of Filipino basketball fans for the last four decades.
I hope the explanation given by league officials for the absence of PBA games on a Sunday, which was the failure to reserve a venue ahead of time, wasn't all true.
Heck, even those so-called 'committees' in our backyard inter-color basketball tournaments find ways to stage their regular games - come hell or high water!
Sorry, but missing the PBA games over the weekend felt like missing church on a Sunday!
