THE recent grueling schedule has appeared to take its toll on Terrence Romeo.
The GlobalPort superstar was hobbled by minor knee injury on Friday night that factored in his sub-par play in the team’s 101-88 loss to Alaska in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Romeo was held to just five points on 2-of-9 shooting, although he dished out five assists, and one steal, against five turnovers in 27 minutes.
The measly scoring output was his least this conference and lowest in almost two years or since October 24, 2015 when he also scored just five points in a loss to San Miguel Beer.
GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren confirmed the injury of his prized ward, saying it is due to “wear and tear.”
Romeo is coming off a sizzling stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba Asia Cup, before hitting the ground running his return to his mother club. The Batang Pier coach, however, allayed fears that his star might miss time.
“Best rehab is rest,” Pumaren said.
Apart from Romeo, Mike Cortez just recovered from a bum stomach, while the GlobalPort backcourt missed Stanley Pringle, who’s in the US due to the passing of his father.
