THE possibility of San Miguel tapping Quincy Miller as import for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup is there.
But all's not cast in stone
Team deputy coach Peter Martin said the 31-year-old Miller is in consideration as the Beermen’s reinforcement for the coming mid-season tournament given that he’s been playing as one of two imports by the team in the East Asia Super League (EASL) Home and Away Season 2.
“Maybe, maybe not,” said Martin when asked about San Miguel’s import situation, with the second conference set to kick off two weeks from now.
A second round pick of the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA draft, the 6-foot-10 Miller put his name in the conversation after delivering 32 points on 3-of-5 shooting from long range in the Beermen’s 101-85 loss to the Taoyuan Pilots of the P.League+ Wednesday night in the EASL doubleheader at the Philsports Arena.
The number were obviously a marked improvement from his eight-point performance (2-of-12) in San Miguel’s 87-81 loss to Suwon KT Sonicboom in the opener of the regional tournament a month ago.

And it certainly caught the attention of the SMB coaching staff.
“Compared to the first game, he (Miller) showed up and we found him,” said Martin of Miller.
The product of Baylor University previously suited up for Converge and TNT in the two previous editions of the Commissioner’s Cup.
But Martin said the import search continues for the Beermen, who are the defending champions of the tournament that features reinforcements of unlimited height.
Head coach Jorge Gallent also mentioned the option of bringing back last year’s reinforcement Bennie Boatwright once he fully gets healed from his Achilles surgery.
“Yung search namin hindi nahihinto. We’re not stopping from looking at others (prospects),” said Martin.
