TNT shored up its backcourt by picking highly-touted guard Mikey Williams at No. 4 in Sunday’s PBA Season 46 Draft.
The 6-foot-1 Williams was chosen by the Tropang Giga after the ballclub obtained the draft rights from NLEX in a three-team trade that also involved Blackwater a few days ago.
Williams, 29, played NCAA Division 1 ball with Cal State Fullerton, while also appearing in the NBA G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The Los Angeles native also played for the Saigon Heat in the Asean Basketball League and General Santos in the MPBL.
Williams is expected to fill the void left by Bobby Ray Parks, who decided not to sign a contract extension with TNT to take a sabbatical for the coming season due to personal reasons.
Santi Santillan was selected at No. 5 by Rain or Shine, while Benedict Adamos landed at Alaska with the No. 6 selection.
Larry Muyang was chosen by Phoenix Super LPG at seventh, followed by James Laput at number eight by Terrafirma.
Alvin Pasaol was picked No. 9 by Meralco, Jerick Ahanmisi No. 10 by Magnolia, and Troy Rike No. 11 by NorthPort.
Barangay Ginebra ended the first round by selecting Ken Holmqvist at No. 12.
