MIKEY Williams' much-improved play was a silver lining in Converge's loss to San Miguel on Wednesday in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup.
After averaging 3.3 points and shooting just 14 percent from the field in his first three games with the FiberXers, Williams had 14 points on 33 percent clip, while adding three rebounds and eight assists in their 103-99 loss to the Beermen.

Williams got off to a slow start as he joined Converge for just a week before the opening of the Commissioner's Cup. Now with the benefit of more practice time with the team, Williams is starting to show his true form.
“My objective is to just keep stacking days,” said Williams. “I'm in the lab everyday. I've got to keep working. I know I've played this game my entire life and things will come when they come. I'm not putting too much pressure on that. I'm just trying to do the little things to help my team so far.”
On Wednesday, Williams also proved that he is not just a scorer as the two-time Finals MVP turned facilitator. Even with the loss, Converge actually had more assists than San Miguel although by a slim margin, 25-23.

“I’ve always been a willing passer. I'm just a playmaker. I've always molded my game around that. But guys are just knocking them down and I'm finding the right people in the right places,” said Williams.
Williams hopes the hard work would finally translate into a victory for Converge, which is on a three-game losing streak.
“I'm still adjusting to everything. I'm still in the adjustment period but slowly but steadily, everything is going in the right direction for me. Morale wise, I think that's the biggest takeaway for me,” said Williams.
