THERE was a reason why Mikey Williams only got to play in the fourth quarter of Converge’s PBA 50th Season Commissioner’s Cup opener against guest team Macau.
According to a source, the comebacking Williams only secured his FIBA letter of clearance (LOC) before the fourth quarter of the FiberXers’ 102-94 win over Macau Black Knights at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The LOC is a document attesting that a player has fulfilled all contractual obligations from any team, club, or national federation he was previously contracted to play.
Though he didn’t specifically say that it was about his FIBA LOC, Williams confirmed that they were still sorting things out during the course of the game, the reason why he didn't play in the first three quarters.
“We had a little hiccup to deal with in the first three quarters, but I’m glad that everything got cleared up to help the team,” said Williams.

“There was an issue going on so we were just trying to figure that out so that I can play. I’m just glad that everything was cleared up and our coach gave me the go-ahead that I could play,” he added.
