MIKEY Williams finally made his PBA return on Wednesday after nearly three years during Converge’s first game in the 50th Season Commissioner’s Cup against the Macau Black Knights.

Williams played the entire fourth quarter in the FiberXers’ 102-94 win over the Black Knights, missing all of his four shots from the field.

But Williams contributed in other departments with two rebounds, three assists, and one steal to contribute to the victory.

Wednesday was the first time the 34-year-old Williams played since April 21, 2023 when he bagged his second Finals MVP after his former team TNT defeated Barangay Ginebra in the Governors’ Cup.

A lengthy contract dispute with TNT eventually led to the Tropang 5G trading Williams’ signing rights to Converge last June 2025 for Jordan Heading. It still took time before Williams finally agreed to play for the FiberXers, reportedly landing a one-year deal before the Commissioner’s Cup started paving the way for his return.

Two years, 10 months, and 18 days after his last PBA game, Williams said he is just glad to be out there playing competitive basketball again.

“I just felt good to be out there. It took about one or two minutes ‘till I realize that I was really out there. I’m glad I got a good little sweat in,” said Williams after the game.

It still took time for Williams to get back on the court as he waited for a full three quarters of the contest against Macau before finally being called to enter the contest, later admitting there was a ‘little hiccup’ before getting the go-signal to be play.

When he got word that everything has been sorted out, Williams was seen taking advantage of the short quarter break to warm up as quickly as possibly by shooting a three and a lay-up before joining the huddle.

Several fans cheered upon seeing Williams approaching the table official, and a few more when he entered the court.

Williams said it was difficult not being able to play basketball on a regular basis in between the last game he played in the PBA to now.

“Felt like it was built up for a cool minute. Time after time, not being able to do what I love to do. That’s the hardest thing to fathom. I was just happy to touch the floor and be able bounce the ball again,” said Williams.

For Wednesday’s contest, Williams said his focus was only to get the feel of the game and his teammates as he is still in the process of digesting the system of Converge.

“I just want to get my feet wet. Still learning the offense. I’ve only been here seven days," he said.

"But I know we have a great import in Kylor, great young guys, Justin Arana, Balti, Juan, Alec, and a lot of other supporting cast. Today, I just tried to feed off them and just do the best I could to play within the offense, and make the right decisions."
