MIKE DiGregorio always wants to play like there's a chip on his shoulders.
Wednesday was no exception.
DiGregorio lit up for seven three-pointers to finish the game with a team-high 27 points as Blackwater won for the first time in three games in the PBA Philippine Cup, 111-99, at the expense of Rain or Shine at the Astrodome.
“I have a lot of motivation going into this game. No matter how much I have achieved in the PBA so far, how many good games I’ve had, how many good conferences, I always have a chip on my shoulder and I always feel like I have something to prove," the Fil-Am guard said.
"I try to work hard every single day and put in the time to be successful,” DiGregorio added.
DiGregorio said he read an article about the “pathetic” start of the Elite after the team started the season with back-to-back losses. He used that as motivation.
“They were talking about how pathetic Blackwater was in the last showing. The word choices, to me, felt like, ‘Alright, I have that log to the fire.’ I try to use anything to motivate me. I wanted to prove them wrong,” said DiGregorio said.
