TNT KaTropa player Michael Miranda has paid dearly for a hit on Phoenix big man Justin Chua on Saturday during their PBA Philippine Cup match at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Miranda, acquired by the KaTropa in a trade in the offseason, was slapped a one-game suspension and fined P30,000 for throwing a closed fist to the stomach of Chua late in TNT’s 93-84 loss to Phoenix.
The former NLEX player was called for a flagrant foul penalty two in that play, leading to his automatic ejection.
He will now miss TNT’s next match against former team NLEX on Wednesday.
Miranda’s absence could be crucial as the KaTropa are already thin in the frontcourt with Troy Rosario still out due to a broken nose.
Incidentally, TNT will be facing an NLEX team that beefed up its frontcourt after acquiring Poy Erram from Blackwater and signing free agent Marion Magat.
