THE Miami Heat welcomed Gilas Pilipinas with open arms to their city through a post on their social media accounts.
The Heat expressed their best wishes to the Philippine national team in their training camp in Miami for the Fiba World Cup through their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“Welcome to Miami, Smart Gilas Basketball! We hope your training camp for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup is going well!” wrote the Miami Heat on their Facebook account.
In response, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes wrote on Twitter: “Yes it is! Thanks for the welcome. Hope you could drop by so we can visit.”
It is not yet clear, at the moment, whether Miami Heat head coach and many-time Manila visitor Erik Spoelstra will also visit Gilas Pilipinas in the training camp.
Gilas Pilipinas is in Miami for an intensive training camp before heading to Europe for tune-up games against teams competing in the Fiba World Cup, slated August 30 to September 14 in Spain.
The national team is in its second day of practice in Miami.
