REIGNING Best Import Allen Durham and the Meralco Bolts kick off their bid for the PBA Governors Cup title this Friday as they battle Columbian Dyip in the opening double-header at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Bolts and Durham, twice runner-up to Ginebra in the two previous editions of the season-ending conference, take on Akeem Wright and the Dyip at 4:30 p.m. in the first game of a weekend doubleheader.
TnT Katropa and NLEX face off in the 7 pm. main game with the Katropa parading returning import Mike Glover and Olu Ashaolu reinforcing the Road Warriors.
Defending champion Barangay Ginebra, also the newly-crowned Commissioner's Cup champion, won't return to action until Sept. 2.
The games return to Antipolo on Sunday as NorthPort Batang Pier make their debut opposite NLEX, while Meralco goes up against TnT.
Calvin Abueva makes his awaited debut with Phoenix as the Fuel Masters meet Columbian on August 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, before Magnolia Pambansang Manok and Romeo Travis, also a former Best Import, clash with NLEX.
Two days after, Alaska and Blackwater play their first game of the conference at the Mall of Asia Arena. The Elite cross paths with the Katropa, while the Aces face off with the Bolts.
San Miguel, with former Best Import AZ Reid on board, plays its first game against NLEX on Sept. 1 at the Big Dome.
Then the following day, the Kings and Justine Brownlee begin their quest for a third straight Governors Cup crown when they collide with the Aces also at the Big Dome.
Rain or Shine, whose core represented the country in the 18th Asian Games, play its first game on Sept. 22 in Iloilo City against TnT Katropa.
