MERALCO is already considering Zach Lofton to stay for the remainder of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup following his 54-point night on Sunday.
Head coach Luigi Trillo said the 31-year-old Lofton is supposed to be a temporary replacement for Su Braimoh, who sustained an Achilles injury during their previous game against NLEX last week.
Lofton serves as Meralco’s import in their campaign in the East Asia Super League along with Prince Ibeh.
MERALCO OPEN TO KEEPING LOFTON
Following Sunday's performance, Trillo admitted there is a possibility that Lofton would stay for good.

“Su is out for the year. Zach, we said two games. But with the way he is playing, the options are open,” said Trillo of Lofton, who stands exactly at 6-foot-3 and seven-sixteenths as per PBA measurement,
“I’m happy we have him now. Obviously, we have to talk to the coaching staff about do we move forward to this, and if we are rolling, we are rolling, we stay with it. We will find out in the next few days,” said Trillo.
LOFTON SAYS HE FEELS AT HOME
Lofton said he felt right at home with Meralco, and had little adjustments also because he was already part of the team in the EASL. The former Detroit Piston also said he already considered the team as family, with some members even organizing a Thanksgiving meal.
“I want to step into the team and be the force that he (Braimoh) was. The team believed in me. They helped me make my shots. Ultimately, I want them to help them get the win and that’s what we did,” said Lofton.
“As soon as I came here, they made me feel like family. We had Thanksgiving dinner. My mom loved that. The guys, they were family right away. I’m happy about that,” said Lofton.
