IT was a brief and uneventful Meralco debut for Jason Brickman, but nonetheless, good enough to get his feet wet for the PBA.

The Fil-Am rookie suited up for seven minutes and went scoreless in an 88-79 Bolts loss to the visiting Ryukyu Golden Kings in the final group stage playdate of the EASL Home and Away Season 3 on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The No. 7 overall pick in the last PBA draft made his official debut when he entered the game at the 6:14 mark of the first quarter before being taken out just prior to the end of the period.

Brickman never made it back to the game especially after the Bolts fell behind by as many as 20 points in the second half, with the 34-year-old guard obviously still unfamiliar with the way Meralco run its system.

He attempted just once from three-point range and assisted once.

The Long Island University product admitted being still lost on how things are done at Meralco, having joined the team less than two weeks ago.

“I’m enjoying playing for the team so far. We only have a few practices, but it’s good to be on board with the team,” said Brickman.

Meralco coach Luigi Trillo said Brickman remains at a loss on how the Bolts play.

“Jason is still new and doesn’t know (sometimes) what he’s doing. He hasn’t had some time with us,” said Trillo of Brickman, who went on a short break after winning a maiden MPBL title with the Abra Solid North Weavers before agreeing to a one-year deal with Meralco.

But in time, he believes Brickman will settle down and finally live up to expectations.

“He hasn’t had any games (with us). But he’ll get there. Jason Brickman will get there,” said Trillo.
