MERALCO ripped shorthanded Talk ‘N Text, 106-95, in a tune-up game on Saturday at Meralco gym.
Gary David, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, and Kelly Nabong provided the spark off the bench for the Bolts against their sister team.
“When we play Talk ‘N Text, we always want to beat them, a little extra motivation,” Bolts forward Cliff Hodge said.
But Bolts coach Norman Black played down the rout, considering the Tropang Texters rested Gilas Pilipinas standouts Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo, and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
“I make nothing of it,” Black told Spin.ph after the game. “It’s just a scrimmage game, gives us the chance to practice our offense and defense. But it’s exhibition season. It doesn’t count.”
“We won big, so at least it gives us confidence going into the conference that we can hang with the big guys, but I wouldn’t take too much from this.
Troy Rosario was among the Texters who delivered, but lamented how strict the referees were in calling fouls.
“Konting ano lang, foul agad,” said Rosario, who fouled out.
