MERALCO is throwing in another draft pick after a trade that was to send Mike Tolomia and KG Canaleta to Blackwater in exchange for Allein Maliksi and Raymar Jose was not approved by the PBA on Thursday.
According to a source, the league's trade committee thumbed down the trade, that will also have a 2020 second-round draft pick owned by Meralco changing hands.
That has forced the Bolts to sweeten the pot by adding another second-round pick to the package, just to gain the PBA's approval.
Meralco is looking to acquire another scorer in Maliksi and a big man in Jose in its desire to add depth to its lineup.
Blackwater, meanwhile, continues to shake up its lineup just days after acquiring Brian Heruela from TNT in exchange for Mike DiGregorio.
