MAVERICK Ahamisi took it upon himself to inspire a Rain or Shine squad that was coming off a shock loss to cellar-dwelling Kia last week.

Ahanmisi came out firing when the Elasto Painters blasted NLEX, 97-86, in the PBA Philippine Cup last Friday night, firing a personal conference-best 20 points on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc to go with eight rebounds and three assists.

“I owe it to the coaches and to those guys in the locker room who work hard everyday and they trust me as much as I trust them,” said Ahanmisi after atoning for a 4-of-12 shooting night in a 98-84 loss to the Picanto.

“I know I didn’t have a good couple of games, especially the Kia game I didn’t play that well so I just tried to come out today and played aggressive,” he added.

The six-foot guard out of the University of Minnesota said communication was the key for the Elasto Painters who had 21 assists while forcing the Road Warriors to 22 turnovers.

“It’s good cause it’s an early loss. We know what we can work on to get better as the conference moves forward,” Ahanmisi said.
