MAVERICK Ahanmisi enters free agency when his contract with Terrafirma expires on Sept. 30.

While his contract with the Dyip is automatically extended for the remainder of the PBA Governors’ Cup, the 35-year-old Ahanmisi can still be signed by any team seeking his services since the Fil-Am guard is already an unrestricted free agent, according to a person close to Ahanmisi.

He has until before the resumption of the PBA Governors Cup to look for a team interested in his services, otherwise the Dyip retain his services.
But by keeping his rights for the remainder of Season 50, Terrafirma also risked losing him without getting someone in return as the Fil-Nigerian guard will still end up as an unrestricted free agent by the end of the year.
The only way the Dyip can benefit from any deal is if they find a trade for Ahanmisi while the conference is still ongoing.
Truth to tell though, the Los Angeles, California native has been balling for the Dyip in the season-ending meet.
Playing cohesive basketball while handling the Terrafirma backcourt with Juami Tiongson, Ahanmisi is currently flashing the same form he showed when he was adjudged Most Improved Player in 2023.
He currently averages all-around numbers of 15.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in helping the Dyip register a 3-5 record going to the long season break.
Ahanmisi ranks second behind Tiongson as the team’s second leading scorer among locals.
The No. 3 overall pick by Rain or Shine in the 2015 draft was acquired by Terrafirma along with Aljon Mariano following a trade with Barangay Ginebra for the Dyip’s first overall pick in the Season 51 draft.
His expiring contract was a three-year max deal he previously signed with the Gin Kings.
