MARQUS Blakely felt there were some questionable fouls called on him that led to his early disqualification from Star’s 100-98 loss to Blackwater in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday night.

The Hotshots import fouled out with less than two minutes gone in the fourth period after picking up two quick infractions in a 13-second span.

“(Some fouls against me were) suspect, that’s all I can say,” Blakely said in a short interview with scribes after the game.

“I don’t need an apology after. I just want you to be consistent during the game, that’s all I asked for,” he added. “Because this is my job, I’m gonna give everything I can every second. And all I asked for is consistency because that’s what my team look for me to do every day, day in and day out.”

But it hardly seemed to be an isolated case as Elite counterpart Eric Dawson was also in foul trouble, but made no complaints.

Dawson even picked up his fifth foul earlier than Blakely was called for his, with the Elite import getting whistled at the six-minute, 44-second mark of the third quarter, before returning with 8:29 left in the game and keeping himself foul-free until the final buzzer.

Blakely contributed 12 points, 12 boards, six assists, two blocks, and two steals before fouling out as the Elite took advantage and kept it a close contest before prevailing in the end.

“We never really went on a run and we kind of traded baskets with them,” Blakely, the longtime Purefoods franchise import, said. “There were some momentum breakers I think which we couldn’t control, but a lot of them we could control, and that’s what we have to do when we go back to practice.”

Hotshots coach Jason Webb politely declined to grant an interview after the game, gesturing with a “peace” sign to reporters before leaving the venue.
