MARQUS Blakely’s short stint with Purefoods in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup is at an end, but he wants to make sure he’ll be leaving the Hotshots in good hands.

The 6-foot-4 import still flashed his usual energetic form as he led the way in the team’s wire-to-wire 108-88 win over Alaska Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Blakely scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and got three steals in what could be his farewell game with the Hotshots this conference as incoming import Daniel Orton is already in town.

Orton arrived in the country on Tuesday following a stint in China.

The real pro that he is, Blakely said he’ll try to make the transition easy for Orton.

At the same time, he stressed there’s no hurt feelings on his part.

“I wish Daniel the best and the team the best. And there’s no bad blood,” said Blakely.

With Orton joining the team in practice for the first time Wednesday, Blakely said he intends to help the former Kentucky big man understand the intricacies of coach Tim Cone’s  triangle offense and the team’s defensive philosophy.

“Of course, I have to help him (Orton) understand the offense and understand what our culture here is and how he can help us because for as long as I’m here, I can help him in practice and get him in as smoothly as I can to the offense and team system,” said the former Vermon standout.

Blakely stressed he totally understands the Hotshots are working on the goal of retaining the Commissioner’s Cup title.

“The important thing is we go to the next level and hopefully, win the championship,” he added.
