DON'T be fooled by his age: Mark Taylor is still a force to be reckoned with.
At an age when most professional players are retired, the Fil-Am banger is just starting to start a career in the PBA and he sees his supposed downside as a plus.
"I actually see it as a benefit because if you're 37 years old and still able to compete, you obviously know how to train yourself and keep yourself in shape," he said.
"Being around all these years, there's a thing called potential, right? A lot of people do not live up to potential. Now, you get from me is a finished package already. You know what you're going to expect from me and I'm in great shape."
Helping the 6-foot-4 menace's impeccable conditioning is him relentlessly going through the grind in the 3x3 circuit, which he credits for his fitness.
He spent the past year in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 League.
"That put my condition into another level, because 3x3 is different from 5-on-5. You can get away with being in a certain condition in 5-on-5, but you're not going to get away with that in 3x3. It got my conditioning to where I needed to be," he said.
Taylor understands that his age might turn off a number of teams, especially that players in the same age bracket as his in the PBA are already entering the twilight of their careers or are retired.
Yet for him, the proof is in the pudding, and with him doing his best to impress in the two-day Draft Combine will be enough to get teams intrigued.
"I think me putting up these numbers in this Combine is going to bring them in because a lot of them are shy with my age. But what they understand is I'm in peak athletic ability right now. I'm at the top right now," he said.
