MARK Cruz and Kevin Racal are set to return to the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday just a day after leading Letran to the NCAA title at the expense of San Beda.
But the Knights stars are coming in as amateurs no more as they report for their PBA clubs for the time, albeit as mere spectators, having yet to sign.
Cruz will watch Star in its game against Globalport at 7 p.m., after Racal supports Alaska in the match versus Blackwater in the curtain-raiser at 4:15 p.m.
Star governor Rene Pardo said he is just waiting for the recommendation of the coaching staff as far as Cruz’s signing is concerned.
Danny Espiritu, Cruz’s agent, said he is in negotiations with Star management, hoping the newly minted NCAA Finals MVP can sign a two-year deal next week.
Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas said Racal is expected to sign once he reports for practice for the first time, so he could join them in Dubai next week when the Aces are slated to play two games, against Mahindra on Friday and Barangay Ginebra the next day.
