FOR the second time in less than a week, Barangay Ginebra guard Mark Caguioa is facing the penalty for another flagrant foul on the same man - Calvin Abueva.
The PBA's media bureau said the longtime Ginebra star has been summoned to appear before Commissioner Chito Salud on Wednesday for the flagrant foul he committed on Abueva during the Gin Kings' 108-95 victory over the Aces in their PBA Philippine Cup knockout match on Saturday.
The 2 p.m. appearance before Salud is waivable and will most likely be declined by Caguioa, who video replays showed landed hard on a fallen Abueva during a rebound play in the first half.
Referees called a flagrant foul 1 on the former league MVP in the play, under the belief that the hit was deliberate.
The incident came just four days after Caguioa was slapped with a flagrant foul 1 for another skirmish with 'The Beast' in the first game of the Ginebra-Alaska quarterfinal series - a hit the league called 'vicious' and Aces team owner Wilfred Uytengsu condemned as an "MMA foul."
He was slapped with a P5,000 fine for the foul.
League officials said Caguioa will most likely be slapped another P5,000 fine for the second offense - unless the referee's call is upgraded to flagrant foul 2 by Salud after a review.
