YOU can be a fan of somebody for his looks, and not his game, after all.
Alvin Corpuz became a fan of Mark Caguioa when the Ginebra superstar shaved his head clean only a few years ago as he entered the final years of his accomplished PBA career.
And when his friends started to notice the resemblance between Caguioa and him, Corpuz just embraced it.
Nung napanood ko, sabi ko, ‘Oo nga no?’” he recounted.
Ever since, Corpuz, 28, has been a keen follower of Caguioa, often paying a visit during practices and asking for photo requests.
Getting his own photo requests from Ginebra fans is a simple joy for the 28-year-old electronics company employee from Muñoz, Quezon City.
“Sarap sa pakiramdam,” Corpuz said.
Corpuz again felt the star treatment during the Gin Kings’ thanksgiving party on Sunday afternoon where he also had another chance to rub elbows with his idol.
Caguioa, though, joked Corpuz looks more like Sol Mercado than him.
“I think it’s funny,” the Ginebra franchise player said.
