TWO days after being benched by Frankie Lim in the second half of a loss to Blackwater, Mark Caguioa reiterated his faith in the new Barangay Ginebra coach who he said is the 'best guy for the job.'
In a series of tweets he fired as the furor over his benching in Saturday's 78-83 loss to Blackwater in Dipolog City simmered, Caguioa made it clear the incident hardly dented his belief in the new Ginebra coach.
"Trust me when i say that the best guy for this team is Coach Frankie so lets all help each other maging isang barangay," said the former league MVP in a post on his Twitter account @officialMC47.
As the team struggled to a 1-3 (win-loss) start to the PBA Governors Cup, Caguioa also praised Lim's 'no-nonsense' approach and quashed calls for yet another coaching change for the league;s most popular team.
"Medyo nasanay tyo palit ng palit ng Coach eh. With Coach Frankie i can see a bright future for this team wala syang favoritism and thats what i like abt him.
"Tsaka wala syang bine baby. He treats everyone equal. Kaya bgay nalang natin yung tsupon dun sa mga nangsisira sa Ginebra natin."
On Monday morning, Lim broke his silence over a decision to sit Caguioa in the second half of the loss to Blackwater, telling Spin.ph that it wasn't planned.
“Hindi ko naman na-plano 'yun (Caguioa’s benching). But I was looking for Sol (Mercado), Josh (Urbiztondo) and LA (Tenorio) and they were playing well, so pinabayaan ko na sila (sa loob in the second half),” Lim said.
