MARK Caguioa typified Barangay Ginebra’s bench production as he went on a late offensive barrage in the team’s 121-94 win over TNT KaTropa in Game One of their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series on Monday night.

The veteran shooting guard, poised to be the next member of the 10,000-point club, flashed his vintage form in the payoff period where he scored all his 13 points that padded the Gin Kings’ lead and added insult to injury to the Texters.

“Well, Mark is Mark,” Gin Kings coach Tim Cone said. “Mark can light it up at any moment. You should see him at practice. There are moments where he just lights it up, and nobody can stop him, it's just really incredible to watch.”

“And our concentration with Mark is trying to get him in good scoring positions, so he can take advantage of that skill,” he added. “He's got a unique scoring ability.”

Caguioa registered his output in just 12 minutes as he finished with seven rebounds and one assist off the bench.

Jervy Cruz also scored in twin digits as a non-starter with 10 markers, while Aljon Mariano and Paolo Taha likewise contributed in the rout with four points apiece.

“We've got a core of players that are playing really well right now, so we don't reach too deeply into our bench,” Cone said. “But we do feel we have a deep team, and in a series like this and going into a five-game series, and if somehow you get into a seven-game series... You're basically playing 12 games in maybe 25 or 26 days. So you need guys to come out and do the job that they did tonight.”

“And we have great faith in them,” he added ahead of Game Two on Wednesday night in Batangas.
