THE flagrant foul called on Mark Caguioa in Barangay Ginebra’s do-or-die encounter against Alaska last week has been upheld by the PBA Commissioner’s Office and earned the star guard another P5,000 fine.

Caguioa was again a no-show at the office of Commissioner Chito Salud on Wednesday afternoon in a meeting arranged to explain his side on the flagrant foul 1 he committed against sophomore forward Calvin Abueva in the Kings’ 108-95 win over the Aces in their playoff for the last semifinal berth of the PLDT myDSL-Philippine Cup at the Astrodome.

The summon however, was waivable, according to PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial.

Both incidents showed Caguioa landing hard on a fallen Abueva.

Marcial said the amount of fine remained the same even if it was the second offense for Caguioa since the flagrant foul one called on him was retained.

The league media bureau said the fine could have been increased had the call been upgraded to flagrant foul penalty 2.

The latest fine on the former league Most Valuable Player was his second in a week’s span after also being fined P5,000 for a separate flagrant foul he committed against Abueva in the first quarterfinal encounter between Alaska and Ginebra which the Kings won.
