MARK Caguioa proved he still has a lot of gas left in the tank by putting in some extra shooting work after Ginebra’s tune-up game against Blackwater on Tuesday at the Upper Deck gym.
Already logging significant minutes in a tune-up game which the Elite won, 98-89, the longtime face of the Gin Kings franchise, who turned 38 last month, had more energy to sneak in some shots beyond the arc, while listening to his playlist on his wireless earphones.
Caguioa did his routine to the point when the lights on their side of the court had to be turned off already, signaling the end of the Gin Kings’ reservation of the gym.
The former league MVP is for sure preparing well as he enters his 15th year in the pros and knocks on the 10,000-point club, being just 149 points away from reaching the milestone.
Apart from leading by example, Caguioa also showed he was a vocal leader especially to newcomer Art dela Cruz when both players shared the backcourt at some point in the tune-up game.
“Kaya rin ako sinabay sa kanya, kasi tinuturan niya ako ng plays,” Dela Cruz said. “Maganda combination namin ni Kuya Mark.”
