MARCIO Lassiter converted five threes on Friday, moving him three shy of becoming the PBA’s all-time leading three-point scorer.
Lassiter moved to 1,248 three-pointers made for his career after going 5-of-12 during San Miguel’s 139-127 win over Phoenix in the PBA 49th Season Governors’ Cup.

That closed him even more to the 1,250 total threes that Jimmy Alapag hit in his 13-year PBA career.

Lassiter is in great position to surpass Alapag on Sunday when the Beermen face Barangay Ginebra at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
“We will just see how it goes Sunday, but I’ll try to be aggressive and try to get going and hope that I can get two to tie and three to break it,” said SMB's 13-year veteran sniper.
Marcio marked it for today
Lassiter admitted he was trying to break the record on Friday, which was why he attempted 12 shots from deep. It was an opportunity that was his for the taking since San Miguel was dominant in the contest, leading by as many as 20 points.
“I was trying today because it’s for the fans. I was really trying. But I guess, we have to wait (until) Sunday,” he said.
At the same time, the 37-year-old sharpshooter hopes to have a good shooting night to help the Beermen come out on top of the Gin Kings.
“Hopefully, not the game after. But we will see. I think it will be a good opportunity to hopefully make two and then go from there. But I’ve got to get one first,” said Lassiter.
