SAN Miguel Beer gunner Marcio Lassiter left the Beermen’s match against San Mig Super Coffee early in the first period after crashing into the VIP seats of the Mall of Asia Arena and hurting his right shin in the process.
Lassiter suffered a three-inch gash on his shin while trying to go for a loose ball during the first few minutes of the match that featured the two Finals protagonists in last season’s Governors Cup.
The sweet-shooting Lassiter was quickly attended to by San Miguel’s medical team just outside the dugout, cleaning the open wound before putting a temporary bandage.
He was quickly wheeled out of the Mall of Asia Arena and will be brought to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Global City, possible for stitches.
“Mukhang malalim yung sugat so malamang kailangan siyang tahiin,” said one of the Beermen’s medical staff just before leaving the playing venue.
The wound is just the latest health issue to hound Lassiter, the former Gilas mainstay who has been sidelined in the past by knee and back injuries.
Lassiter bounced back strong to be named the pro league’s Comeback Player of the Year last season. He currently averages 8.0 points and 1.0 rebound in the Governors Cup.
