MARCIO Lassiter stressed he never lost confidence as he broke out of his slump for San Miguel Beer in Game Three of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series against Rain or Shine on Thursday night.
Coming in averaging just three points after missing all but two of his 20 shots for an atrocious 10 percent from the field in the first two games of the series, the SMB sniper dropped 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including five three-pointers in the 104-98 win.
“I didn't change anything,” Lassiter revealed. “Sometimes, it’s just not your night and in the last two games, those weren't my nights. But i always say, those shots I took, I also took them today.”
“Whether those are bad shots, good shots, regardless, every one shot I take I have that confidence it’s going in,” the Gilas Pilipinas gunner added. “I got one and it kept on going.”
Lassiter couldn’t have picked a better time to regain his touch as he came a point shy of his career high and notched the third 30-point game of his career while leading the Beermen in staying alive in the series.
“It came at a perfect time,” the Filipino-American cager said.
SMB coach Leo Austria felt the hot-shooting wingman benefited the most in the absence of trigger-happy import Tyler Wilkerson.
“Siya ang nag-benefit dun sa pagkawala ng import,” Austria said. “Dahil mababa ang morale niya, limited yung touches niya (dati).”
Lassiter also shone on defense as he registered four steals and one block, on top of five rebounds and one assist in 40 minutes.
“We know, when we have the guys in our room, the players who we battle with, we knew we can prevail through a lot of things,” Lassiter said. “Definitely, that’s a testament to our hearts and how we want it more.”
