MARCIO Lassiter offered his outstanding performance in San Miguel Beer’s 117-98 victory over Star on Sunday to Arwind Santos, whose mom, Aracelil, passed away last week.
The SMB sniper caught fire in the second half as he drained six three-pointers overall, conspiring with Tyler Wilkerson in presiding over the Beermen's decisive third-quarter breakaway.
“We had so much fight and we wanted to pour our hearts out for him because he’s going through a very hard time,” Lassiter said of Santos. “We’re really here for him.”
After going scoreless in the first quarter, the SMB sniper still finished with 25 points, including 18 in the third quarter where the Beermen began to pull away.
He buried his first trey early in the third quarter, putting the Beermen up, 59-49, with a little over two minutes gone by.
“Once I got one, I just kept going,” Lassiter said. “I was just in the zone and once I kept going, it really didn’t really matter who was defending me.”
“I couldn’t have done it without my teammates,” he was quick to add as Chris Ross dished out 10 assists. “(Chris) Ross was finding me a lot.”
